How would you be sure it’s “ready for prime time” if you’ve just done building your latest website (or revamping your old one)? Or maybe the website has been around for a while and you thought it may be time for a makeover. Since web technology, methods and standards evolve too fast, a year later, even a website that claims to be “cutting edge” when built will look outdated. Or maybe you have started with a website for barebones and finally have the time and/or money to move it to the next level. If you would like to sell your website once again, you can consider ten things here:
Compatibility: Can most users view your website correctly regardless of the resolution of their device hardware, operating system, browser and monitor? For as many people as possible, make sure the site renders correctly. Provide a download connection if certain features on your website require such browser plug-ins. Note that not everyone is going to have Javascript allowed and that the user will turn off graphics; make sure that without them, the site can still work.
Completeness: ‘Under Construction’ need not be part of your website. Websites appear to grow over time and are never fully “finished” so the website looks like a construction zone for no cause. At least place some informative material on the website to inspire users to come back later, if you need to add pages that are not finished. Alternatively, leave the segment out entirely before it is ready for prime time.
Content: Do you need to change your site’s text? Have you added services, extended the product range, targeted new markets, or modified the direction of your business? Is the overview of your business on your website present and correct, including your contact information? Can the material be more simply, convincingly, or succinctly written down? May it be more informative, helpful, insightful or important to your website? Would your sales message be improved by consumer testimonials or a FAQ section? Check all the material on your web for inaccurate syntax, mistakes in spelling and typos.
Graphics: Do your graphics add to your website or distract from it? It would be uninteresting to have a website without visuals, but a website with so many graphics, videos, and distinct fonts is distracting and distracts from your sales post. Finding the perfect combination is the trick. Sparingly use animations, particularly those that “loop” (play over and over). They will get distracting quickly and detract from your message of sales. Note that banner ads still count as graphics, and there’s plenty of one or two per page.
Interactivity: By adding a mailing list, bulletin board, survey, ezine or guest book, you may imagine making your site interactive. A contest or trivia quiz will draw and bring guests here more regularly. It keeps the website fun by rotating material such as a joke, quote, or tip of the day. Don’t feel obligated to instal all the new bells and whistles only because you can, but ask yourself if your website could be offered the edge by any advanced features. Check the content available from syndicators if you don’t want to supply the content yourself (just keep it relevant to your target market and your other site content).
Links: Are all the links working on your website? Second, make sure that all interactions between pages on your website lead visitors to the right page. Also, review all the links to other websites; the webmaster might have renamed or fully deleted the article, and those dead links will make the site appear unprofessional and frustrate visitors to your site. Set up a custom 404 page that redirects the users to your home page (or a search page) when they want to enter a page that no longer exists, whether you have deleted any of the pages from your own site.
Speed: Does your site load into the viewer’s browser fast enough? A good rule of thumb is the “Eight Second Rule” stating that no site user should have to wait more than eight seconds to access your website’s opening page. Chances are high that the audience would give up and go somewhere after eight seconds have passed. Provide any entertaining material to keep their attention as they wait whether you have graphics or animations that require some time to download. In terms of slower loading times, adding graphic elements often comes at an expense, so use graphics only if they truly contribute to your website’s visual effect and improve your sales message.
Navigation: Is details about your web easy to find? At a glance, the opening page should tell tourists who you are, what you do, and how to find what they are searching for. Your guests should be able to follow a logical route from there to learn more about different facets of your company. Organize them in a rational manner if you mention goods or services on your web. Make sure their purpose is clear if you plan to use visual icons instead of words. Make it convenient for tourists to find what they have come for on your web.
Optimization of search engines: Is your website designed to be among the most popular search engines for relevant keywords? To ensure that they are specific and descriptive, double check the page titles and meta tag keywords and explanations. Did you work your keywords (including variations) into the real page material as well? Is your website based on a certain theme and do you have a lot of theme-related insightful content? Is your website spider-friendly (which means that search engine spiders will reach any page and read the source code’s most relevant content)?
Layout: Is the style of your website compatible with your company objectives? Tell yourself what you want your business profile to be, and make sure that that image is strengthened by your website. Is the look of your business polished? Uh? Friendly? Fashionable? High technology? That style should reflect the look and feel of your web. Will your website still perform favourably to your rivals’ websites? Your website should focus on your organisation positively and assist you in developing your brand profile. If it isn’t yours, maybe it’s time for a makeover.
Usability: Usability applies to how quickly the website can be viewed by web users. Feedback from visitors -the individuals who access and attempt to manage the web – is the greatest test of usability. Adjust your site accordingly if you have submitted reports, feedback, questions, or recommendations from site users. Dissatisfied consumers won’t necessarily let you know, of course. That’s why the web logs can also be examined to see if users leave those sites easily or do not access any of your pages at all. Think in terms of constructing paths that people can navigate through your platform. Without distracting or misleading them, a well-designed website takes users further into the platform and does not lose them along the way.
